Dysentery Home Remedies

It is common for people traveling in foreign countries to get dysentery. All of the remedies for diarrhea may help treat bacterial dysentery. However, amoebic dysentery (which is caused by amoeba living in the raw green vegetables of some countries) and viral dysentery are more severe forms of dysentery. All types of dysentery should be treated by a health professional.

  • To help prevent bacterial dysentery, two weeks before you travel to a foreign country, eat a finely chopped raw onion in a cup of yogurt every day.
  • Make a paste of dry pomegranate seeds (Anardana) and Raisin (Kishmis) with a little of salt in it , It is a most effective remedy tried successfully by many.
  • Mix 1 Tbsp poppy seeds, 1 tsp edible gum, 1 tsp cardamom powder, 1/2 tsp nutmeg (jaiphal) powder, and2 tbs sugar, and grind to a powder. Take this powder every 2 hours.
  • Grate one raw papaya . Add 3 cups water, boil for 10 min's, strain and finish the water in one day.

Before you discard this preventive measure, try it. You may be surprised at how good it tastes. The yogurt somehow makes the onion taste sweet.
